Ashby is a collaboration between vocalist/songwriter Evelyn Pope and fellow multi instrumentalist/producer Bill Cowie.

Based in Boston , Massachusetts, the duo first started recording songs in 1999 and completed a 4 song demo the following year. After the demo created a buzz in indie pop circles and a top 20 hit on influential radio station KCRW in California, the pair decided to proceed with a full length album. "Power Ballads" released in 2001 on Marina Records, offered up a heady mix of sophisticated pop arrangements and melodic songwriting that met with critical acclaim from both sides of the Atlantic.

With a second album released on April 25 2005, Ashby have returned with a wider and bigger sound, adding brass and woodwinds to their stylish mix of vintage electronics and tasteful acoustics. "Looks Like You've Already Won" maintains a high standard of pop calibre while adding a more dynamic and powerful approach to their sound. Experimental electronics have been bypassed for lush arrangements and deep basslines to augment signature melodies that remain long after a first listen.
